Efficient production and cost reduction with an integrated, ultra-compact control platform

Resource efficiency is the number one topic in the tyre industry: ranging from tyre resistance and associated fuel consumption to efficient use of the production hall. The demands on tyre building machines are correspondingly high; the machines are becoming more and more complex but shouldn’t occupy more production space. At its trade fair booth, Beckhoff will present the solution: On the one hand, the PC-based control technology offers maximum functionality by running PLC, motion, measurement and process technology in software. On the other hand, Beckhoff is consistently working on the development of components that offer scalable performance with minimum footprint. Other trade fair highlights include the high-end measurement modules and the integration of voltage measurement in EtherCAT, ensuring higher production efficiency and quality.

EtherCAT P integrates the EtherCAT communication as well as the system and peripheral voltage in one cable and enables power supply forwarding directly via the devices. The combination of high EtherCAT performance and flexible EtherCAT topology make the single-cable solution the optimum bus system for sensors, actuators and measurement technology: Material and assembly costs are reduced and the mounting space is minimized in drag chains, control cabinets and the machine. The AMP8000 distributed servo drive system integrates the servo drive directly into the servomotor, thereby opening up new avenues for modular machine concepts. By shifting the power electronics directly to the machine, the space requirement in the control cabinet is reduced to a single coupling module that supplies several servo drives with just one cable via a distributor module. In the EL922x EtherCAT terminal series, Beckhoff has integrated electronic overcurrent protection for the fusing of 24 V DC system components highly compactly and directly in the EtherCAT system.
