Beckhoff offers an integrated system architecture for measurement applications:
With a new device series, high-end measurement technology becomes an integrated part of PC-based control. The new EtherCAT measurement modules can be directly integrated into the modular EtherCAT Terminal system. Metal housings offer optimised shielding and cooling for measurement applications as well as increased flexibility with regard to interfaces, such as for LEMO or BNC connectors. At this year’s Sensor + Test, Beckhoff will present its new EtherCAT P products in IP 20 and IP 67 ratings for measurement applications. With EtherCAT P, Beckhoff combines communication and power supply in a single standard 4-wire Ethernet cable. The 24 V DC supply of the EtherCAT P slaves and of the connected sensors and actuators is integrated: US (system and sensor supply) and UP (peripheral voltage for actuators) are electrically isolated from each other and can each supply a current of up to 3 A to the connected components. At the same time, all the benefits of EtherCAT, such as freedom in topology design, high speed, optimum bandwidth utilisation and more, remain fully intact. EtherCAT P
Analog and digital input signals form the basis for every analysis – regardless of whether analysis is carried out locally in a control system or on a cloud platform. Beckhoff offers the ideal products for either application scenario: the EK9160 IoT Coupler transmits the data directly to the cloud or, with the TwinCAT connectivity functions, the OPC UA or IoT communications protocols are supported for data transmission via IPC. The TwinCAT Database Server provides a direct connection to database systems. TwinCAT Analytics and Condition Monitoring enable data evaluation, while TwinCAT Scope View is equipped with an intuitive user interface for the graphical presentation of analysis results and raw data.
