With “Integrated Manufacturing” as its lead theme, Ligna 2017 in Hanover documents how woodworking machinery can directly profit from Industrie 4.0 and IoT applications. All basic technologies involved come from Beckhoff: as an open control concept, PC-based control simplifies machine engineering. With Beckhoff, it is possible to realise all major machine functions with an integrated hardware and software platform: TwinCAT is the tool chain optimised for mechanical engineering, using which the PLC programmer can program and/or parameterise even such applications as HMI, IoT communication and cloud-based analytics.
