IoT communication can be integrated into the standard control platform with TwinCAT IoT both for new projects and retrofits. Cloud connectivity can be either established using a Beckhoff controller or a third-party system – and also directly via the EK9160 IoT Bus Coupler. Communication is easy and secure, and supports standardised protocols such as AMQP, MQTT and OPC UA. The TwinCAT IoT Communicator App offers immediate mobile access to TwinCAT process data. TwinCAT Analytics ensures seamless and cycle-synchronous data acquisition – providing a basis for predictive maintenance and trend analyses. TwinCAT IoT, TwinCAT Analytics
IoT technology from Beckhoff forms the basis for new concepts that can be used to simplify diagnostics, maintenance and operation of heating and air-conditioning systems. The best example: the Microsoft HoloLens™. Experience this milestone of augmented reality in the context of IoT – plus other showcases such as Amazon’s voice-driven digital assistant Alexa. The software package TwinCAT Building Automation makes it possible to efficiently implement all the technical building facilities of a modern building automation system. Extensive functional templates and PLC libraries reduce engineering costs. TwinCAT Project Builder applies specific rules to assign names to each data point and each program block so as to automatically create comprehensively structured TwinCAT project files. As well as BACnet/IP, with the EL6861 interface Beckhoff now also supports BACnet MS/TP. This serial interface can be used to directly control and monitor BACnet-compatible field devices – pumps, drives, frequency converters, etc. – as sub-bus systems, without the need for additional gateways or routers. Up to 64 devices with RS485 low power transceivers can be connected. Several terminals can be operated in parallel to scale the number of MS/TP channels that can be supported. BACnet
